FARE Receives $150,000 Donation from American Eurocopter

September 25, 2006

The Foundation for Air-Medical Research & Education (FARE), which fulfills the charitable, educational, and research purposes of the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS), is receiving a $150,000 donation from American Eurocopter this year. The $150,000 grant will aid FARE in its efforts to ensure that every person has access to quality air medical and critical care transport.

“On behalf of FARE, we would like to thank American Eurocopter for their kind donation,” says FARE Chairman Kevin Hutton. “This will allow FARE to make great and visible strides in increasing education and safety, so that we can continue to help save lives and operate in an environment that completely understands the value and benefit of air medical transport.”

FARE is committed to continually improving the standards of operational and critical practice through the promotion and funding of research, education, and the application of new technologies. It also strives to improve clinical and operational safety practices, promote responsible stewardship of scarce health care resources, support public outreach initiatives, and assist in supporting the financial viability of the air medical and critical care transport community.

One way in which FARE advances the quality of AMS is through research grants for safety, clinical, and operational investigations. In 2005, $75,000 in grants were awarded to Canyon Lands Community Health Care, Ontario Air Ambulance, Portland State University, STAT MedEvac, UCSD Emergency Medicine, and the University of Chicago.

“We are honored to be able to support FARE’s efforts,” says Marc Paganini, President and CEO of American Eurocopter. “The importance of its mission cannot be overstated. This is why we will be watching FARE’s progress closely in the years ahead. As FARE succeeds, we want to be in a position to assist when and where we can.”
