American Eurocopter opens West Coast Regional Support Facility

November 15, 2007

At a grand opening ceremony today, EADS North America’s American Eurocopter business unit celebrated the opening of its new West Coast Regional Support Facility in Long Beach, CA.

This new facility is located on the Long Beach Airport in the Daugherty Skyharbor Complex. American Eurocopter President and CEO Marc Paganini welcomed Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster, Captain Joseph Impellizeri from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske, and Russ Spray, President of Turbomeca USA, as well as customers and press to the new facility.

Following a dedication ceremony, Ivor Shier, President of Corporate Helicopters, and Deann Shier, CEO, signed a contract for an AS350BA to B2 conversion – the first for the new facility.

American Eurocopter is the number one producer of civil turbine, law enforcement, and air medical helicopters in the United States. The opening of the West Coast Regional Support Facility is part of the company’s overall plan to bring its maintenance and repair services closer to its customers and to improve customer support.

“We feel that as the leading helicopter manufacturer we should also set the standard for customer support and customer satisfaction,” explained Marc Paganini, President and CEO of American Eurocopter. “We are fully committed to providing the best support in the industry and I feel that to accomplish this we must bring our aftermarket parts and services closer to our customers so we can decrease the turn around time for their orders.”

One of the reasons Long Beach was chosen is its proximity to American Eurocopter’s extended customer base on the West Coast. Currently, there are more than 200 Eurocopter aircraft in the VIP, corporate, air medical and law enforcement markets on the West Coast.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is one of American Eurocopter’s law enforcement customers. Captain Joseph P. Impellizeri, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, was on hand at the event and said, “Throughout my professional career, I have interacted with countless community based organizations and businesses. However, I can honestly say I have never seen a company more committed to it’s customers than American Eurocopter. The opening of West Coast Regional Support Facility is another indicator of that commitment.”

American Eurocopter plans to provide maintenance and repair alternatives at their new facility. The West Coast Regional Support Facility will house a significant inventory of spare parts, including dynamic components available for sale and/or exchange. The large inventory will allow faster turn around times for customers in need of expedited parts or service. A fully trained staff of technicians will be on hand to provide inspections as well as to provide support for off site customers if needed. Training programs for pilots and mechanics will also be available.

This facility is just the first in a network of regional support centers. Additional facilities are being planned for several other regions around the nation including the Southeast, Northeast, and Gulf of Mexico regions.
