Air Methods Orders 20 EC130s from American Eurocopter

February 25, 2008

Air Methods Corporation, the largest air medical transportation provider in the world, has ordered 20 EC130 helicopters from American Eurocopter. The EC130 helicopters will join Air Methods’ sizable fleet of over 330 helicopters already providing emergency medical services throughout the nation.

At an event at the Eurocopter booth #631 at Heli-Expo 2008, American Eurocopter President and CEO, Marc Paganini, said, “This order acknowledges that the EC130 is the helicopter of choice for Air Method’s large, single-engine air medical fleet and it reinforces the strong relationship between our two growing companies.”

The EC130 was selected because of its unique advantages in cabin size, reliability and operational safety features. The aircraft is equipped with dual hydraulics, dual channel FADEC, VEMD and a Fenestron tail rotor. These EC130s will also be completed with a state-of-the-art medical interior from Air Methods’ Product Division.

“The EC130 is a perfect complement for our single-engine air medical fleet,” explained Archie Gray, Air Methods’ Vice President of Technical Services. “These helicopters will provide fast, safe, and reliable medical transportation in support of our Community-Based Services throughout the nation.”

This order is yet another in a long line of agreements between Air Methods and American Eurocopter. Within Air Methods air medical fleet, the company operates a variety of Eurocopter product lines including EC130s, EC135s, EC145s, AS350s, AS365s, BK117s and BO105s.
