Omniflight Helicopters Place a Major Order with American Eurocopter for 24 AS350s

March 1, 2007

Heli-Expo 2007

Omniflight Helicopters, Inc., a provider of Air Medical Services (AMS) to over 50 EMS programs in 15 U.S. states, has ordered 24 AS350 B3 helicopters from American Eurocopter. The B3s will be delivered at a rate of 8 per year during 2008-2010. This order follows on Omniflight’s 2006 order for 7 B3s; two of which have already been delivered.
“We’re buying more B3s because of this aircraft’s proven airframe and lifting capability,” says Omniflight Chief Executive Officer Gaylan Crowell. “Our technicians find the B3 relatively easy to work on, while the aircraft’s heavy-lift performance is as advertised.”
Founded in 1962 by Dan Parker, an early proponent of the ‘Golden Hour’ medevac concept, Omniflight has grown from a single Bell 47 to its current fleet of 71 rotorcraft; most of which are Eurocopters (BK117s, EC135s, and AS350 B2/B3s). “The AMS business keeps growing, which is why we keep buying more Eurocopters,” Crowell says.
“We do a fair amount of high altitude work in Arizona and Montana,” he adds, “and the B3 performs these demanding missions very well indeed.” The reason: The AS350 B3 is powered by a FADEC-equipped 847 shp Turbomeca ARRIEL 2B engine that delivers the highest performance in its class. As well, the B3 has an impressive sling capacity of 3085 lbs., while its VEMD multifunction display makes this aircraft easy to fly.
“Omniflight Helicopters is a reference among U.S. air medical service providers, and American Eurocopter is pleased to continue our long-term relationship with the company’s latest significant commitment to our products.” said Marc Paganini, American Eurocopter’s President and CEO.
