Med-Trans Corporation Purchases Eight EC135s from American Eurocopter

September 17, 2007

From the 2007 Air Medical Transport Conference in the Tampa Convention Center, American Eurocopter today announced that Med-Trans Corporation has purchased eight EC135s with an option to purchase eight more in coming years.
Med-Trans Corporation, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, is a leading provider of air ambulance programs in selected locations throughout the United States. The company is focused on establishing partnerships with leading hospital systems, medical centers and EMS agencies, and Med-Trans currently operates in nine states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Kentucky, North Dakota, South Dakota, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
After a thorough evaluation process involving several models from several manufacturers, the EC135 was chosen as the light twin engine helicopter of choice for the Med-Trans fleet, the company’s growth model and its plans for the future.
“This was a very thorough process for us,” explained Fred Buttrell, president and CEO of Med-Trans Corporation. “We evaluated several makes, models and companies for this and we chose the EC135 to form the basis of our fleet and our plans for the future.”
“We are proud to have been selected by Med-Trans and support them in their mission to provide air medical transportation that saves lives as well as contributes to the improvement of the medical outcomes for patients,” said Marc Paganini, president and CEO of American Eurocopter. “The advanced design, state-of-the-art technology and low cost of operation of the EC135 will allow them to expand the high quality, expert transport and care they are known for as well as supporting their plans for growth.”
Providing a unique combination of performance, safety and versatility, the new generation EC135 is the market-leading EMS twin helicopter, accounting for 60% of U.S. deliveries in 2007 to date. Developed to comply with the strictest JAR Part 27 safety standards, the EC135 was designed in close cooperation with doctors and medical flight crews, resulting in a helicopter that was truly ‘made for the mission.’ The EC135 is offered with a wide range of dedicated EMS interiors, maximizing operator choice, and provides ample room for single-patient or dual-patient transport. The EC135 is equipped with an anti-resonance isolation system (ARIS) that ensures a smooth ride to safely transport injured patients.
The EC135 is offered with a choice of FADEC-equipped Pratt & Whitney Canada PW206B2 or Turbomeca Arrius 2B2 low-emission engines and has a standard range of over 340 nautical miles. The EC135’s high-set main rotor and shrouded Fenestron tail rotor provide a smooth ride, safe ground handling and a low noise signature. Its safety is carried through in its dual system architecture, while the aircraft’s comprehensive suite of single-pilot or dual pilot IFR avionics options offers all-weather reliability.
